About The Baby Hui

Who We Are

The Baby Hui’s clear and compelling mission is to support, encourage, and empower parents to meet the challenges of raising children. For nearly 30 years, we have provided peer-parenting support groups to Hawai‘i’s families.

Founded by Joan Kreeger and Lee Ann Mitchell as a small, grass-roots organization, the Baby Hui has grown into a successful, statewide nonprofit through generous state funding, foundation grants, membership dues, and fundraising activities.

What We Do

The Baby Hui’s volunteer-led support groups provide a forum where parents can share and learn in an encouraging atmosphere, gain confidence in their parenting skills, and develop positive attitudes about raising young children. The Baby Hui provides this support at the most crucial stage of a child’s life—the first three years—and beyond.

Who We Serve

The Baby Hui connects families with similar-aged babies and toddlers, in similar locations, and with similar needs—stay-at-home mothers, working parents, teen parents, dads’ groups, and Japanese speakers.

Each year, the Baby Hui leads about 45 groups serving nearly 500 families on O‘ahu, Kaua‘i, Maui, and occasionally the island of Hawai‘i. Our free community play days and parenting workshops are offered eight times a year, and have educated and entertained hundreds of parents and keiki.

Our Sponsors

The Baby Hui is a 501(c)(3) organization, funded in part by the Hawai‘i State Department of Health, the Hawai‘i State Department of Human Services and a great number of private donations.
